It is an unfortunate fact of life, but as members of the human race, every time we step out of our front door, whether it be as a driver/rider, as a pedestrian or at work, we run the risk of being injured quite often through no fault of our own. Accidents will happen. It has been known for someone simply sitting at a desk looking at a computer screen all day can cause injury.

But it is knowing who to turn to after an accident has occurred that seems to cause people much anxiety. If you think that someone or some organisation may be at fault how can you bring a claim?

Many people are deterred from going to a solicitor after an accident because they imagine that he/she will try and tie them up in legal jargon, official red tape and charge them a fortune for the privilege. Times are changing though and many solicitors are now living in the 21st rather than the 19th century. The way the public are treated now is very different to a few years ago.

This article will attempt to explain why a solicitor is the best person to turn to for help after an accident (and who is not the best), what information the solicitor will need to be able to assist you, and the procedure that will be used to try and win you proper compensation.

Who not to use? Over the past few years a number of “accident management” firms have sprung up around the country. So many in fact that you start to lose track of them all. They all sound the same. And they promise big results for an injured person and spend large sums on TV and other advertising. These are not cheap and have to be recovered somewhere. Guess who from?

Over 150 guests witnessed the World’s largest ever gathering of Desmosedici owners at Donington Park as 45 Desmosedicis from all over Europe took to the track.

This exclusive Desmosedici-only track day saw owners from UK, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and France congregate at the Derbyshire track for an historic day boosted by perfect weather.

A number of special guests were present adding to the wonderful day. Alan Jenkins, Desmosedici designer, gave a seminar giving an insight into the production and development of this unique machine. Ernesto Marinelli, the Superbike technical director, gave a presentation on the Ducati Corse organisation and Donington Circuit owner, Simon Gillett, presented the development plans for the Donington circuit.

Off course the main focus of the day was the incredible bike itself and the Desmosedici owners enjoyed nearly two and a half hours of track time on the full GP circuit with optional one to one training from DRE instructors that included ex racers David James, Marco Luchinelli and Dario Marchetti.

MP rides MSS Kawasaki Superbike for charity.

Known for his love of fast cars and high powered motorcycles, the MP for South Thanet, Dr Stephen Ladyman, is making ready to ride a 200 horsepower racing motorcycle in aid of charity. The 57 year old Member of Parliament, who started his two wheeled love affair on a humble 50cc machine at 16 years old, will ride an MSS Colchester Kawasaki Superbike at the Thundersprint event held in Northwich on 10 May. Having owned, “too many bikes to remember”, Ladyman has decided that the high profile event, which annually attracts over 100,000 visitors, is the ideal platform to bring attention to the CALM charity, the focus of his fund raising attempt.

“CALM seeks to help young men who are experiencing a variety of serious personal issues”, commented Ladyman. “The theme of the web site at TheCalmZone.net is that staying silent is not being strong”. One thing that Ladyman will not be on 10 May is silent though as he rides a highly tuned British Superbike helped by Kawasaki’s official entry in the 2009 Championship, as MSS Colchester Kawasaki’s Team Principle, Nick Morgan, explained.

“Kawasaki Motors UK have arranged for Stephen to borrow a standard road going ZX-10R so that he can acclimatise himself to the big Ninja. That will stand him in good stead, but he will still have be 100% focussed at the Thundersprint to make best use of all the technology that is packed onto a 200 mile an hour racing bike.”

A bike is stolen every 18 minutes, 75% are stolen from their owner's house.

The Honda C90 is the best selling motorbikes at around 35 million (as at November 2002), end-to-end they would stretch 4 1/2 times around the world or half way to the moon, since 1966, on average, a C90 is made every 30 seconds. UK sales ceased in 2003 after 36 years of production but the bike is still being made in Indonesia and Thailand

Keep your motorcycle in first class condition this winter (or if not in use for any long period of time). Follow these simple steps to help you ensure your bike or scooter is properly protected.

Prepare to put your bike in storage for the winter months but do not be tempted to regularly start it up. Instead, get it warmed up on your last ride as this dries the condensation from the exhaust systm. Try to fill your tank right to the top just before you get home as unleaded petrol can evaporate when in contact with air and leave a residue that may clog-up your carbs. For the same reason, turn off the fuel tap and run the engine until it stalls, then drain any remaining petrol from the float bowls. If the bike is more than four years old, consider emptying the tank instead because water can accumulate in the base of the tank and may cause enough rust to create a leak. The best way to do this is to unbolt it from the bike and after draining, turn it upside down, it'll also give you the chance to clean a load of otherwise inaccessible areas.

Tickets are now on sale for the Mugello Grandstand. This year the Ducati Grandstand Tour will take in 9 international MotoGP races.

Following the success of the Ducati Grandstand at Italian rounds last year, Ducati has decided to use the same formula at other MotoGP rounds around the world.
It will now be possible to follow your heroes trackside at the Italian circuits of Mugello and Misano, but also at the European rounds of Le Mans, Sachsenring and Valencia, as well as at the international events at Laguna Seca and Indianapolis (U.S.A.), Phillip Island (Australia) and Motegi (Japan).

On 1st June 2008, the Ducati MotoGP Team will take to the track, more revved up than ever and ready to take part in the first of two Italian MotoGP world championship rounds, at Mugello, one of the hallowed grounds of international motorcycling.
